New Sellers Guide to Building Feedback

Every new Ebay account starts with -0- feedback. If your intention is to sell, a zero feedback rating can be a definite credibility problem. The way many new Ebayers resolve this issue is by buying supplies and materials for their business (on Ebay) and mixing it in with a little low cost test selling. Pay for your purchases quickly, and leave your seller positive feedback. In other words, slowly build your rating through purchases and small sales.

For those that are impatient, there is a relatively inexpensive method a few advocate to build a faster rating. Do a search on Ebay for e-books. You are likely to find hundreds of ebooks ranging from .01 - .99 cents. Bid or buy a dozen or so from different sellers and be sure to leave them positive feedback. You may even drop them a note after the sale thanking them and asking for feedback. This should quickly build your numbers well above the dreaded -0-.

This works, and as long as there is a completed sale it is perfectly legal. The downside is that most savvy buyers will check your feedback comments. The fact that you've purchased a dozen cheap ebooks will certainly not raise your credibility as a seller and may even appear as a sort of scam to some.

Do it if it feels good, but don't count on it as a silver bullet. Every seller on Ebay starts with zero feedback. You are much better off concentrating on developing strong listings and learning Ebay's selling system than worrying too much about low feedback. Many buyers are willing to buy from newer sellers if the listings are presented in a professional manner and the price is right.
