Take Advantage of Ebays About Me Page
The "About Me" page is probably the most under utilized and overlooked marketing tool that Ebay offers. True, its a very low traffic page. But what many sellers overlook is that potential buyers who do click on the page are looking for specific information about you. A poorly written or non-existent page can make or break a sale. The following is a list of items which you may want to consider adding when building your page:
- A short personal biography. Tell buyers who you are, where you are from, etc. Also include any professional organizations you belong to, advanced degrees, or other information which will establish you as knowledgeable in your field.
- Follow with a brief business history. How long you have been selling on Ebay, outside business interests, etc. This may also be where you add your website address. Ebay allows one outside link on your page. Take advantage, but be careful to stay within their linking policies. ( http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-aboutme.html )
- Consider adding a FAQ. Buyers will appreciate finding answers to their questions without having to email you.
- Add your terms and conditions. This should mirror the TOS on your item pages.
- Include a short list of your items for sale and current feedback. If you only sell occasionally or have spotty feedback you may want to omit these items.
- If you have a website, a nice touch is to use the same graphics and color scheme on your About Me page.
Obviously, not all suggestions will work for all sellers. Simply keep in mind your objective which is to establish your credibility to your potential buyer/bidder.
